KODIAKS HAVE MOVED 4 MANA!

Congratulations Kodiaks! You’ve exercised, tracked points, and saved lives for one whole month for Move 4 MANA, and the results show it! As a school we have saved 443 lives—an incredible feat! Huge shout-outs to Mme. Ferrer and Zach Hamed who beat out the rest as the top faculty and student participant respectively. Mme. Ferrer came out on top for the second year in a row and Zach saved four lives of his own! Other highlights from the month-long challenge include multiple, epic musical chairs battles, a flash mob, and amazing prizes (courtesy of local businesses).

The final ‘wrap up’ took place in the Grand Hall where the team who earned the most MANA, Team Durangos (Mr. Durand’s grade 9 French class), got to enjoy a White Spot lunch courtesy of the Food For Famine Society. The students, fifteen of whom had raised enough MANA packets to save at least a life themselves, had a front row show of the festivities to follow. The Move 4 MANA team made a few final remarks, and drew for the final prize, two tickets for the school’s Grad Dinner Dance in June. Then the fun began! The top 100 participants were eligible to participate in one last musical chairs event, where students competed for the top prizes, including for a cineplex gift card, a Bluetooth speaker, and first place being a brand-new Apple iPad. Zach Hamed snatched the prize in the final match, just nearly beating his opponent in a nail-biting finish—a wonderful way to end the celebrations.

The success of Move 4 MANA was due not only to the incredibly hard work of the Move 4 MANA team and their teacher sponsors, Mrs. Nunn and Mrs. Wood, but also the student body. The MANA did not earn itself, and I think every Kodiak can rest easy knowing that we have contributed to something bigger than ourselves. Be proud Kodiaks; you deserve it! Until next year, keep moving!
