The Robotics Club (formally know as Syntechs Robotics) builds, adapts, programs and drives their robots in order to conquer the objectives of that year’s VEX competition. Currently, the robotics club has split into numerous teams, each tending to their own robot to complete the tasks for the 2019-2020 VEX Robotics annual competition (check out his video for more info https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JVQOiw_OUU). There are multiple tournaments held throughout the year with trophies to be won based on your design, sportsmanship, your engineering journal and many others. Each person learns through trial and error, by experiencing what went well and what didn’t. Progressing in these competitions, is all about reflection and improving upon your robot so that next time you will be able to score more points efficiently. The club also works collaboratively with each team, sharing ideas or innovative mechanics to add to their robot. Syntechs Robotics may also participate in FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition)—which enters in bigger robots— though participation depends on member willingness. For more info and photos from their past events, visit their website https://syntechsrobotics.github.io/.
The robotics season has already started but if you are really interested in joining, talk to Mr. Zhaung in room 217 either during flex or sometimes after school. You can also talk to the executive members who are usually in room 217 after school working on their robot and they would be happy to provide guidance.
